Bell bicycle chains are quite useable. But be aware that the gold master link on the ten speed version is a particularly weak design. The link will fail under hard pedaling. Best to remove the master link and install with a chain rivet tool. 1 and 3 speed bikes normally use a 1/2″ pitch x 1/8″ wide chain. That includes fixies, bmx bikes, beach cruisers. Deraillleur equiped bikes normally use a 1/2″ ptch x 3/32″ wide chain. The two widths are not interchangeable so make sure you buy the correct chain. pitch referes to the distance from 1 pin to the next. The width is measured on the inside of the chain where it sits on the sprocket and cog teeth. Note that most deraileur equiped bicycle chains DO NOT have a master link. They are installed at the factory using a chain rivet tool. Also, high end racing bikes with lots more gears (8, 9, 10, or 11 cogs on the rear wheel) require special chains that wal mart doesn’t sell.
