How to Use This versatile, untreated wool is ideal for a wide range of garden uses: Use as a fine mulch around potted plants, raised beds or borders to keep moisture in and weeds out. Merino’s softness makes it ideal for more delicate plants. Compost faster – Merino wool adds structure and nitrogen to compost heaps, speeding up decomposition and improving airflow. Soil insulation – Line raised beds, cold frames or planters to help roots stay warm and supported, especially through colder months. Water retention – Ideal for hanging baskets, pots and greenhouse beds where moisture loss is a problem.♻️ Breaks down naturally – No synthetics, no plastic, just wool – returns nutrients back into the soil safely. Why Merino Wool?✅ Ultra soft and easy to handle✅ Ethically sourced and chemical free✅ Suitable for gardens, composting and even eco crafts✅ Fully compostable and safe for wildlifeUse it once – and you’ll see the difference in your soil, plants and harvests. History of the Farm The Friendly Farmers were born from the desire to combine the branding of our products, sourced directly from the farm, with a name that conveys confidence and honesty! Our farm is made up of over 500 acres of land which gives a home ewe lambs, horses, chickens and ducks, a couple of dogs, and the grassland that feeds them all. Our farm houses 5 companies, but our main focus is hay, fodder and straw production for UK and export. The ethos behind the farm is in fact under its land and this is where the real fun begins! It is the soil, its health and its central position in the future of our planet. Microbes, mycorrhizal fungi, carbon sequestering, all of which we begin to realise play major roles in balancing our existence. We take extreme pride in all that we have built here at Shelvin Farm and its continued contribution we hope you can share in it too.
