When it begins to decompose it releases chemicals into the pond that stunt the growth of Algae. The best way to use our Pond Rescue nets are to place them in the water in spring when the sun is out for longer but the temperature is still low. The decomposition can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of months depending on how warm the water is. Once the natural chemicals are released they should remain active for a few months. We suggest placing your barley net on the surface of the water to allow it to aerate and begin the process of decomposition.
